Christmas and New Year are behind us. At Kyalite, Australia Day is the time of the year when families gather and relax. The weather is magic and so is staying down in the Kyalite Forests. It is the time of the year to explore the forests, go fishing with the kids. Get the boat and simply cruise the rivers. Natures world is so very close, the white cockies overhead, the roos, emus and sheep coming in for a drink. Lizards camouflaged on the tree so much to find and see. Caught a fish? Bring into the pub to brag “ Hey mate mines is bigger than yours!!” The Kyalite Pub’s general store has all your daily needs. Fishing Licences, bread, milk fishing tackle and bait. The pub is open normal Hotel hours and the Restaurant on for meals.
Going since 1990 the Kyalite Pub was the first private restocker of public waterways in Australia and arguably the most successful. Receiving strong support from fishing clubs and customers this program is financed by the Kyalite Pubs’ Annual restocking Raffle. The fish release is on the Sunday of the Victorian March long weekend and open to all comers. So if you are recreating in Kyalite’s fabulous Regional Parks on the day, or just on a day trip, bring the kids and let a few fish go in your favourite spot along the Edward or Wakool Rivers.
One of the biggest Weekends of the year at Kyalite. Our Good Friday Raffles a perfect way to start a perfect weekend. For the kid's hundreds of Easter Choccies. Eggs, Bilbies, rabbits, toys to be won. For the big kid's lots of Vickie’s famous sea Food trays ready to take home. Its great fun ticket sales start about 4 pm Friday and all proceeds go to the royal children's hospital. Oh and fishing is great, the weather spot on – just good for the whole family to enjoy recreating in the Australian Bush.
The Kyalite ANZAC DAY is unique. People, some coming hundreds of kilometers, begin to arrive the night before. Each ANZAC morning before dawn the Kyalite Pub opens its doors and drinks are on the house. The muster is sounded and people gather at the small memorial park opposite the hotel. The service begins with the MC’s introduction followed by guest speakers and ANZAC reflections.
As the service proceeds the morning sun begins to light the day During the minute silence we listen to the magnificent sounds of the Wakool river waking up – truly unique. Following the Service, the Hotel once again becomes the centre of attention as a hot breakfast is served for all. A wonderful Service that is open to anyone who wishes.
